Diddy Is Hip-Hop's current raining cash cow.
The Bad Boy mogul topped the just released Forbes Five: Hip-Hop’s Wealthiest Artists 2012 list with a net worth of $550 million.
His knack for promoting his various business holdings including his Ciroc vodka, clothing lines Sean John and Enyce, marketing firm Blue Flame, record label Bad Boy and a handful of tech startups have all contributed to making him the mogul closets to becoming hip-hop’s first billionaire. And his deal with Comcast to launch his own cable channel Revolt in 2013 could very well get him there!
Coming in at second place with $460 million is Jay-Z who happens to be the only one of the top 5 still making hits and is still touring.
His sale of Rocawear for $204 million in 2007 and signing a 10-year $150 million deal with Live Nation in 2008 all helped him climb up to second place. Then there are his stakes in the New Jersey Nets, his 40/40 Club chain, ad firm Translation, cosmetics company Carol’s Daughter and other businesses.
Steve Stoute who co-owns Translation with Jigga weighed in on this epic battle between his two pals.
“Who’s going to be hip-hop’s first billionaire is still to be determined,” he says. “But clearly Jay and Puffy are far and away positioned to surpass that.”
Rounding out the list is Dr. Dre who somehow is worth $270 million mainly due to his Beats Electronics company, Cash Money/Young Money boss Birdman is 4th with $125 million and Vitamin Water helped propel Fiddy to 5th place with $110 million.
